A rigid basket base and a soft fabric upper compliment one another to make this super-useful bag.

Use as a project bag, for thread storage, to hold darning supplies, or as a unique handbag.

The bamboo basket is from a traditional manufacturer in Japan. These are among the last ones available.

The bag is made from repurposed vintage wool kimono.

That pattern on the fabric is shibori using a kōkechi method, for which sections of the fabric are tied and bound to resist the dye. To make each of the little circles, the fabric is gathered and tied before dying in an indigo vat. It's a specialized, labor-intensive process so we are thrilled to be able to give these wool kimonos new life!

The bag is made of wool, the lining and drawstring are rayon, and the basket is bamboo.

Dimensions: 7 1/2"w x 5 1/2"d x  8"h

Made in Japan

Note: each bag is unique and the placement of the fabric pattern varies. For the bags with pink or yellow, each bag has a minimum of one prominent flower. The blue and white bag does not always have a prominent flower.
