Handwoven Sakiori - Goldenrod
A warm interplay of plant-dyed color and reclaimed kimono cloth
This sakiori textile is handwoven from old kimono fabrics that have been washed, dyed, and torn into narrow strips, then rewoven with plant-dyed cotton and mixed mohair yarn. Sakiori—the Japanese tradition of weaving with recycled cloth—shares roots with the American rag-rug tradition, but here the fabric strips are cut much finer, creating a softer hand and a richly detailed surface.
This piece features a striking contrast between the plant-dyed yellow of tall goldenrod and the softness of mohair. Because the weaving combines materials with different elasticity, there may be slight (1–2 cm) variations in length and width, along with subtle natural pilling—an authentic feature of mixed-material handweaving.
Use it as a scarf, table runner, altar cloth, or wall hanging. Its warmth and texture make it an inviting accent for both home and wardrobe.

Care
The fabric has been hand-washed twice—once at the time of fabrication and once after weaving. To avoid slight color fading, please gently hand-wash (press-wash without wringing; machine washable), dry in the shade, and iron from the inside out.
