Sashiko Ornament Kit, Set of 9
A classic holiday project—with a Japanese twist.
This kit makes nine stitched ornaments using sashiko, a traditional Japanese embroidery style. The design features Ajisai-sashi, a geometric pattern inspired by the shape of hydrangea blossoms.
Whether you're trying sashiko for the first time or looking for a new project to enjoy this season, this kit is a satisfying, hands-on way to add more handmades to your holiday.
What’s special about Ajisai-sashi:
- Ajisai means hydrangea in Japanese, and sashi refers to sashiko embroidery
- The stitched pattern resembles a hydrangea flower
- Uses Kuguri-sashi, a technique that involves weaving under stitches to create texture and detail
- Hydrangeas are a favorite in Japanese culture, often symbolizing gratitude and changing emotions
Makes 9 individual ornaments (each 4" square)
