A single, expressive floral—painted by hand on richly dyed cotton.

This piece is made from medium-weight cotton, dyed with persimmon tannin (kakishibu), a traditional Japanese process known for its warm, earthy tones and subtle variation. The surface carries a natural mottling—soft shifts of tan with hints of rose—that give the cloth depth before the brush ever touches it.

At the center, a floral motif is painted by hand, with layered whites and soft purples that penetrate the surface of the cloth. Each brushstroke is visible, and the artist’s signature is included as part of the composition.

The fabric itself is substantial -- feeling like a lightweight canvas -- with no stretch and a fully opaque body. It holds its shape well, making it especially suited for projects where structure matters, or where the fabric is meant to be seen and appreciated as a whole.
