Flowers & Mantis Poetry Pouch by MoritaMiW
A lively dance among the flowers
Part of the imaginative collaboration between Japanese poet–illustrator moritaMiW and textile maker Kusubashi Monori, this zip pouch captures a moment of whimsy and motion—where a mantis sways on garden blooms as if caught mid-conversation.
Made from woven cotton jacquard, the pouch features rich texture, an embroidered mantis, and MiW’s printed signature. Inside, a contrasting satin lining adds a pop of unexpected color. Its softly rounded shape feels organic in the hand—so you can tuck away essentials with ease while carrying a little story wherever you go.
This design pairs with MiW’s poem “Flowers and Mantis,” a playful reflection on nature’s quiet humor and movement.
“Flowers and Mantis”
On the flowers in the garden flower bed,
The praying mantis dances gracefully.
As I gazed at them, they soon got into
the mood and started cheering loudly, and even louder,
yuraralaralara. I also started
whistling hiyu-hyohyohyo ♪ The flowers were
blown by the wind and fluttered softly.
I’m sure the mantis will start telling me about it soon.
“This is just a threat.” Then I would argue back.
“Huh? You’re swaying happily
on those pretty flowers and then threatening me?”
