Traditional Japanese Textile Plates

Each plate includes an original swatch mounted on thick handmade washi paper, with the fabric name, region, and weaver printed in Japanese.

These mounted textile swatches come from a rare 1975 portfolio documenting traditional weaving across Japan. Compiled by Senshoku to Seikatsusha under Shoichi Goto and edited by Kiyotaro Tsujiai, the original set featured 150 examples from ten textile-producing regions—from Kyushu to Okinawa.

Each plate is a tangible link to Japan’s regional textile legacy—preserved and now ready to be shared.
