Antique Wood Shuttle with Silk Thread on Bobbin

This is a delightfully intricate little wooden machine. It has tiny springs, screws, hooks and eyes. So much charm in a palm sized antique!

Originally from Lyon, France's silk center since the 1500s. I imagine this shuttle has woven miles and miles of beautiful silk. It comes with a bit still on it. It's no longer usable as a functional tool, some small parts may be missing, but it is now worthy of a haberdashery collection, or as a decorative item.   

The wood is most likely Boxwood.
