Vintage Indigo-Dyed Chevron Kasuri Cotton
A beautiful example of warp-dyed kasuri cloth, this indigo cotton features softly blurred white chevron motifs created through the traditional resist-dyeing process. The pattern emerges from the dyed warp threads themselves, giving the fabric the distinctive feathered edges and depth that make kasuri textiles so captivating.
The exact origin is unknown, but the construction, indigo palette, and woven motifs are reminiscent of mid-century Japanese kasuri fabrics. The cloth has a pleasing nubby texture and substantial hand, making it suitable for both garments and home décor projects.
The weight offers versatility for jackets, overshirts, bags, cushions, table runners, and other projects where texture and character are desired. The narrower width and rustic weave give it the feel of a traditional textile while remaining practical for contemporary sewing.
