Indigo-Dyed Checkered Jacquard Cotton
A subtle woven check pattern emerges from layers of indigo blue, creating a fabric that reveals more detail the closer you look. Rather than relying on printed color, the design is woven directly into the cloth, producing a rich interplay of light and dark indigo squares with remarkable depth and texture.
Created by Japanese indigo textile artist Kyoko Sakato, this fabric reflects her commitment to traditional dyeing methods and domestic production. The understated check pattern makes it versatile enough for garments, bags, home décor, and quilting projects, while the hand-dyed character gives it a presence that ordinary plaids and checks cannot match.
This deadstock fabric was originally produced for commercial use and is rarely available outside professional textile channels.
