Vintage Hon-Zome Rayon Kimono Fabric
Bring home a beautiful piece of vintage Japanese textile artistry. This authentic hon-zome (本染め, "true-dyed") kimono fabric features a dramatic navy and white design combining flowing water with delicate plum blossoms. Still bearing its original paper tags, it is an unused length of vintage kimono fabric that has been stored for decades.
Hon-zome refers to traditional dyeing methods in which the color penetrates the fibers rather than being printed onto the surface. The result is a fabric with rich color and beautiful depth. Woven from rayon, this lightweight fabric has the graceful drape and soft sheen that made rayon a favorite for everyday and semi-formal kimono throughout the mid-20th century.
Perfect for garment details, scarves, book arts, textile collections, or simply displaying as a beautiful example of Japanese design.
Please note that, as with many vintage textiles, minor storage marks, light discoloration, or age-related imperfections may be present.
