Linen is one of those beautiful materials that gets better with age. It softens with every wash, develops character as it’s used, and—perhaps best of all—asks very little of you in return.
✳ Washing
Linen loves water, but keep it gentle.
-
Wash cold or warm (up to 86°F / 30°C) with a mild, natural detergent.
-
Avoid bleach or fabric softener—linen doesn’t need them.
-
You can hand-wash or machine-wash on a gentle cycle.
✳ Drying
Linen dries quickly and prefers the open air.
-
Air drying is best. Lay flat or hang dry.
-
If you need to tumble, use low heat only, and remove while still slightly damp to avoid stiffness.
Pro tip: Give your linen a quick shake and smooth it out by hand before hanging. This helps avoid excessive wrinkling and saves you time later.
✳ Ironing (if you must!)
We happen to like a lived-in look, but if you prefer a crisp finish:
-
Iron while still damp or use a steam setting.
-
Use a medium to hot iron.
-
Iron on the reverse side to protect natural fibers and dye.
✳ Storage
Linen is naturally moth-repellent, breathable, and doesn’t trap odors or mildew. Store it clean and folded in a dry place. No plastic bins needed—let it breathe.
✳ Why Linen?
Linen is antibacterial, hypoallergenic, thermoregulating, and able to absorb up to 20% of its weight in moisture before it even feels damp. It doesn’t pill, rarely stains, and is naturally strong and durable—ready to stand the test of time.
🌿 Sustainability Notes
Flax—the plant behind linen—is a quiet hero. It grows in poor soil with minimal water, no need for fertilizers or heavy pesticides, and absorbs tons of carbon from the atmosphere. Every part of the plant is used. Linen is biodegradable, recyclable, and low impact to produce—so your love of it is doing the planet a little good, too.
We use our linen scraps for fabric packs so nothing goes to waste.
